Flatbed Freight

Flatbed is the workhorse of open deck and the freight we move most: steel and fab out of the mill and the shop, onto a 48' or 53' deck, secured the way the receiver expects it. If your load has to be tarped, we say so on the tender - not after the truck shows up.

What rides on it

  • Structural steel and fabricated steel
  • Steel coils
  • Rebar and mesh
  • Pipe and tubing
  • Metal roofing and wall panels
  • Precast concrete
  • Lumber, building materials, machinery

How we run it

  1. 01

You tell us the piece count, dimensions, weight and how it has to be secured. We match it to a carrier that runs that commodity, not just a truck that's empty nearby.

  2. 02

Tarping, coil racks and special securement go on the rate confirmation so nobody argues at the dock.

  3. 03

Pickup and delivery appointments are confirmed with the shipper and receiver before the truck rolls. If anything moves, you know first.

Questions shippers ask us

How fast can you quote?

Send us origin, destination, dimensions, weight and when it needs to move. Standard open deck usually comes back the same business day. Permitted over-dimensional takes longer because the route and permits drive the price - we'll tell you up front how long we need.

Do you handle tarping?

Yes. Tell us if the load needs a tarp and we'll book a carrier that carries them and price it in. Steel that can't get wet, coated pipe, roofing panels - anything the mill or receiver wants covered.

Can you handle multi-stop or partial flatbed loads?

Yes. Multi-pick and multi-drop are common on steel jobs. Partials depend on the lane - ask and we'll tell you honestly whether it makes sense or whether a dedicated truck is cheaper once you count the risk.

How do you vet the carriers you put on my freight?

Every carrier is checked before they get a load - authority, insurance on file for the commodity, safety record, and whether they've actually run this kind of freight. Open deck is not the place for a first-timer. If a carrier doesn't clear, they don't get the load, no matter how cheap the truck is.

What's your on-time record?

We track on-time pickup and delivery on every load and will show you our current numbers when we talk. If a load is going to be late, you hear it from us before you'd have to ask.

Have a flatbed load?

Send us the dimensions and the date. We'll take it from there.
